Neuromath – P6 Final Boost Workshop

Just like running a marathon, your child is near to completing his/her 6 years of Primary Education. He is making his last dash towards the finishing line – PSLE! This is the critical phase of the race. The toughest part of the race is the last lap when the end is in sight. We have witnessed how heightened stress levels can cause students to under-perform during exams, wasting the years of hard work and preparation.

With just weeks to PSLE, there are multiple subjects to prepare and within each subject, many topics to revise. WHAT SHOULD YOUR CHILD FOCUS ON?

Leave this daunting task of planning a comprehensive math revision to my team of HOD and teachers, as this is the area of our expertise.

We have put together a 3-Day PSLE Math Workshop – The Final Boost aims to revisit important topics and concepts commonly tested in PSLE Math to ensure the P6 students be confidently prepared for the final showdown!

3-Day PSLE Math Workshop – The Final Boost

Day 1: Circles/Area and Perimeter/Volume/Construction of Geometrical Shapes

Day 2: PSLE 10 Years’ Series Questions (mid to high level difficulty)

  • Speed
  • Fractions
  • Ratio
  • Percentage
  • Whole Numbers
  • Decimals
  • Angles
  • Pattern

Day 3: Common Mistakes to Avoid (save 10-20 marks here!!!) + Non-routine Qn/Heuristics and Higher Order Thinking Questions. Include possible concepts that can be tested in PSLE but have not appeared in PSLE before (we have spotted 1-2 concepts yearly for the last 10-15 marks questions meant to differentiate the B/A and A* students)

As the name “non-routine” or “heuristic” suggests, there is no fixed method to solve these questions and students freeze up and panic upon seeing an “unfamiliar” question. We have seen many high-achieving students still end up leaving math problem sums blank or half-answered because they are not confident of answering, or don’t know what the question is asking for. This is the secret weapon we are equipping our students with --- what A* scorers have been applying to tackle the non-routine or heuristic questions. How A* scorers approach Heuristic Questions by searching for clues, organizing into bite-sized information, using known methods covered in class and proving that the answer is logical.
